Ali Croxford is no stranger to music, having been brought up in a musical family. It has been a normal part of her life since the young age of 9, where she regularly sang in churches around the UK and USA with her family. Simultaneously, she was learning to play the piano and quickly found she had a natural ability to play by ear and to read music. She was so proficient that by the age of 12, she became her own accompanist.
Ali has continued to be in high demand as a session singer providing lead and backing vocals on various productions as well as performing as a backing vocalist at many UK leading Christian Festivals. She has made several TV appearances, her most recent being on BBC’s Songs of Praise (which regularly reaches TV audiences in excess of over 9 million people).
However, it’s as a singer/songwriter that Ali comes into her own, writing about true-life experiences that she can really empathise with others and is able to connect with the man or woman in the street. It is through these life-changing situations that have inspired her to write her own songs.
In April 2003, she made a decision that she was going to finally make her dream a reality. She said, “I’ve talked about it for so long and now I’m going to seriously do something about it.� Her song “My Time� speaks for itself…. “I can say I’ve done it and not say I just wish that I had. Sometimes when you’re given opportunities you’ve just got to take that step and go for it.� And she has, with the recording of her debut album “Life’s a Story�.
What’s Ali’s aim? To simply communicate to people through her songs and her faith, that when there are difficult times in life, a positive outcome is achievable. After all, we all have a story to tell.
Her music influences originated from Southern Gospel but many talented artists such as Elton John, Tina Turner, Queen, Sheryl Crow and more recently Anastasia, Daniel Bedingfield and Jennifer Knapp have inspired her.
